JBL Xtreme Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker (Black) |
Whenever I am about to splurge money on an expensive piece of electronics, I always devote a good amount of time towards researching every option i can get so i know I am getting my money's full worth. One place my research has taken me to is clavinetjunkie's channel on youtube, where i found out about the jbl charge 2. The charge 2 sounded better than the bose, so i decided to hear both in the store for myself. What i found was the same difference from the videos, meaning that his videos capture the differences between products pretty accurately.
However, i needed something that plays louder without distorting/compression (which all small speakers do, not limited to the charge 2!), so that was when i decided to go back to clavinetjunkie and research some more, and this is what i decided i should get .
Reviews for : JBL Xtreme Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker (Black)
Portability
Sure larger speakers such as the klipsch kmc3, big blue party, and the beolit 12 are still portable, but i wanted something that can still fit in my backpack, and this was it.
Build Quality
Feels extremely solid overall, though not sure about the exposed bass radiators. It looks pretty cool though. Not sure
Sound
Can go way louder than the charge 2. The treble is also a lot more crisp and doesn't suffer at high volumes unlike the charge 2. Bass can sometimes be a bit much indoors but nothing an equalizer cant fix (bass lovers rejoice!). It's just right outdoors. The only thing i would like is perhaps just a little more midrange, but it's not really a big issue. Overall, its very very good.
Bluetooth
For some reason, the first 1 second of the song doesn't play whenever i select a new song on my ipod touch. Changing songs by pressing next or previous works fine though. Other than this issue, everything works as expected. I haven't tried jbl connect and speaker phone, so no comment on that.
conclusion
Medium sized portable speaker with a giant sound. If you want a speaker that sounds better than the bose soundlink 3, infinity one, and beats pill xl, but is more portable and convenient than a klipsch kmc 3 or big blue party speaker, this is it.
