(More customer reviews)Why would you buy a completely passive component that adds nothing to your audio, and simply changes the direction of the cord? Easy: Your gadget that it's plugged into is worth it.
In the standard configuration, with straight cable going in, you get a bending force on the jack if the cable is tugged in ANY direction perpendicular to the jack. Over time, that can screw with your jack, and wear it out. Add one of these right angle adapters though, and it is almost impossible to put a bending force on the jack. The cable will just rotate into a new position, pivoting about the axis. It can serve as a sort of quick-release too, since it's more likely to just let the cable release if you yank on it, instead of pulling your electronics off of a table or something.
Plus, the right angle makes it easier to handle some handheld gadgets/audio players. Just need to make sure you get right size angle adaptor for them (3.5mm vs. 2.5mm). This one is for standard 3.5mm jacks.
I honestly didn't think it would be that useful, but I use it a lot for controlling cables, and connecting to my portable media player. Most useful for the smaller gadgets that have no other option but analog audio, like portable recorders, etc.
